Good day amazing people, it appears that my favorite season has finally arrived, summer. Although summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21st, my love for the summer is one love that will never grow old. Seeing the consistent summer sun has a way of making everyone I know so much happier, awake and full of energy. The natural vitamin D that the sun provides to our bodies is something that always brings out the best in me. As we all know if you blink too long you will miss the entire summer. If you want to take advantage of the sun and have a memorable summer it is very important that you plan out your movements for the upcoming summer months. That being said below I have come up with 5 suggestions on things you should do to enjoy your summer to the fullest!

1) Traveling

Traveling is a must!!! Planning out a trip to another country, another town, a museum, amusement park, beach or somewhere you haven’t been before is an excellent way to expand your mind and enjoy life that much more.

2) Friends

What is life without great friends?? Be sure to set sometime aside to get to know your friends better with your time off. Make a list of questions that you would like to learn about your friend(s) and expand your friendships and ability to trust and/or meet new friends.

3) Sports

There is nothing like playing a summer sport in the sun!! Playing in the sun is a great way to get some vitamin D, exercise & a good tan all at once. Summer sports include: swimming, running, walking, tennis, basketball, beach volley, soccer, golf, fishing, etc.

4) Festivals

One thing that summer is known for is all the festivals that take place throughout the summer months. If you are a music lover or a foody there is a festival for you. Take the time to search for the right festival for you, your family and friends to enjoy.

5) Rest & Relaxation

Summer holidays are the best time for you to slow down and enjoy yourself. Learning who you are, understanding your likes and dislikes are very important. Be sure to take sometime to do some deep breathing to relax the mind and body or find a great novel and let your mind go on an adventure.

I hope these suggestions are helpful in making this summer one of the most memorable summer for you and all those around you. HAPPY SUMMER HOLIDAYS from the Flightunit Family!!!

(Reuters) – The Miami Heat rebounded from their NBA Finals opening game loss in emphatic style on Sunday, crushing the San Antonio Spurs 103-84 in Game Two to square the best-of-seven series.

It was a total team effort from Miami, and they needed it with LeBron James (17 points) not at his explosive best. Four other Heat players stepped up to reach double figures – Mario Chalmers top scoring with 19.

San Antonio’s ‘Big Three’ of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan combined were just 10 for 33, with Duncan’s 3-13 shooting his worst in an NBA Finals game.

“They outplayed us,” said Duncan, “We didn’t play well, we didn’t shoot well and I know I played awfully.”

After a first half that mirrored the tight nature of Game One, with San Antonio’s Danny Green scoring four of four three-pointers, Miami broke away in the third and headed into the final quarter with a 75-65 lead.

League MVP James was strangely ineffective on offensive, however, managing just eight points on three of 13 shooting through three quarters and missing a couple of routine lay-ups.

However, he came alive late in the third and carried a more aggressive approach through the fourth as Miami finally produced the offensive power that was the hallmark of their form until the Finals.

“When I was struggling offensively, my team mates continued to keep it in range and we even had the lead,” said James.

“I think Rio (Chalmers) more than anybody kept us aggressive … it allowed me to sit back and wait for my time,” he added.

NO EXCUSES

Miami’s devastating 33-5 run put the game well beyond San Antonio, whose coach Gregg Popovich opted to play the final portion of the fourth quarter with reserves on the court.

Ray Allen and Mike Miller each chipped in a trio of three pointers for the Heat while Chris Andersen went three of three shooting for nine points.

James, who like Miami’s other starters also sat out the latter minutes, finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists but before taking his rest, he brought the crowd to their feet with a stunning block on a Tiago Splitter dunk.

San Antonio’s Game One standout Tony Parker was handled superbly by Chalmers and limited to 13 points on 5-14 shooting.

After committing only four turnovers in Game One, the Spurs gave up 16 on Sunday. Parker, who was without a single turnover on Thursday, conceded five.

Spurs head coach Popovich said there was no question of fatigue and no excuses for his team’s performance.

“Miami did a hell of a job. Nobody is tired, we had two days off, there’s no excuse. The season does get long for both teams but they would both rather be here than at home.

“So it’s not about tired. It’s about Miami played their ass off,” he added.

Game Three is on Tuesday in San Antonio, the first of three games in Texas before the series returns – if needed – to Miami for the final two games.

(Reuters) – Miami guard Dwyane Wade said the Heat may have paid the price for their grueling seven-game series against the Indiana Pacers as the San Antonio Spurs took advantage of late turnovers and missed opportunities to win the first game of the Finals 92-88.

The Spurs took care of Memphis in four games in the Western Conference final, a full week before Miami’s game seven against the Pacers and while there is always a debate over ‘rust v rest’ as an advantage, Wade felt the Heat had tired.

“I thought that we were a little fatigued, honestly, in the fourth quarter, looking around,” Wade, who had 18 points, told reporters.

“We looked like a team that came off a seven‑game series. I thought we got some shots we wanted but we were a little careless at times as well. We turned it over,” he said.

“We did a great job all game but having five turnovers in the fourth quarter isn’t going to get you a game, especially not in the Finals.

“We’ll be better prepared next time and hopefully make better decisions in the fourth quarter.”

The five Miami turnovers in the final quarter resulted in six points for the Spurs.

Wade’s peer LeBron James agreed that fatigue was at play.

“I could see it on a few of our guys’ faces, (they) felt a little fatigued, still felt a little banged up from that seven-game series,” said James.

“The Spurs looked like they were rested in the fourth quarter and they took advantage of that.

“We had some mental mistakes and there are only a couple of teams that you can’t make mistakes against, especially in the fourth – and San Antonio is first among them,” added the league’s Most Valuable Player.

Miami will take heart from knowing they lost their opening game, also on home court, to the Chicago Bulls in the second round of this year’s playoffs and came back to win the series 4-1.

The Heat also did exactly the same in last year’s final against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“One thing about our team is that we’ve gotten better as the series went on. We hate to lose before we start to get a little edge but that’s what happens,” said James, who recorded his tenth career playoff triple-double with 18 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists.

“We will see if we can continue to repeat what we have been doing and come back on Sunday, with a better game planning, and try to even the series.”

(Reuters) – Paris Jackson, the 15-year-old daughter of late pop star Michael Jackson, was rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital on Wednesday after an apparent suicide attempt, her mother said, but her family later reported she is “physically fine.”

“Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention,” Perry Sanders, an attorney for Paris’ grandmother and guardian, Katherine Jackson, said in a statement.

“Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are,” the statement added. “It is especially difficult when you’ve lost the person closest to you.”

Pop singer Jackson died in 2009 at age 50 from a lethal dose of surgical anesthetic propofol while preparing for his “This Is It” series of concerts in London.

The Jackson family’s wrongful-death lawsuit against concert promoter AEG Live is currently at trial in Los Angeles and the family attorney have been expected to call Paris as a witness.

Paris’ mother, Debbie Rowe, told entertainment TV program “Entertainment Tonight” that her daughter attempted suicide and had “a lot going on (lately).”

“We appreciate everyone’s thoughts for Paris at this time and their respect for the family’s privacy,” an attorney for Rowe said in a statement.

Celebrity website TMZ.com, which first reported the suicide attempt, said Paris had been taken from her family’s home in Calabasas, California, by ambulance at about 2 a.m. time, citing unnamed sources.

Los Angeles County Sheriff deputies responded to a medical situation in Calabasas at 1:27 a.m., sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore said, declining to provide additional details because of privacy laws.

Jackson was married to Rowe from 1996 to 1999, and the couple had two children together, Prince Michael in 1997 and Paris in 1998. Jackson later had a third child, Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket.

Rowe turned over full custody of the children to Jackson as part of their divorce but she had recently rekindled her relationship with Paris.

Jackson’s children live under the custody of their 83-year-old grandmother, Katherine, and their cousin, T.J. Jackson.

(Reuters) – Pop singer Mariah Carey and rapper Nicki Minaj will leave “American Idol” after just one season as judges on the singing contest show, following on the heels of longtime judge Randy Jackson who left amid a TV ratings slump.

“Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn’t trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!!” Minaj said on her Twitter page on Wednesday.

Carey’s departure was also announced on Twitter by her public relations firm PMK BNC, which said the singer “says goodbye 2 idol” as she prepared to embark on a world tour.

Carey, 43, joined the judging panel with Minaj, country singer Keith Urban and Jackson, a music producer, for the show’s 12th season.

Carey reportedly earned $18 million while Minaj’s salary was reported to be $12 million and Urban’s was at $8 million for the season.

Carey and Minaj, 30, grabbed headlines throughout the season for their on-camera arguments and off-camera feuding, with Carey saying in January that she had hired extra security following threats reportedly made against her by Minaj.

Despite the added star power of Carey, Minaj and Urban, the show’s ratings slumped to the lowest in 12 seasons, with the May 16 season finale of “Idol” drawing 14.2 million to see vocal powerhouse Candice Glover win the competition.

Fox released statements following the announcements of both judges.

“Mariah Carey is a true global icon – one of the most accomplished artists on the planet – and we feel extremely fortunate that she was able to bring her wisdom and experience to the ‘American Idol’ contestants this season,” Fox said.

“Nicki Minaj is a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion to ‘American Idol’” and who had a tremendous positive impact on so many contestants this season. Given her extremely busy career, we understand and respect her decision and wish her the best,” the network added after Minaj’s announcement.

Jackson announced this month he would not return to the show next season. It was unclear whether Urban would.

Pop singer and actress Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler left “Idol” in 2012 after two seasons and used their increased visibility from the show to relaunch their music careers.

Fox, which is owned by News Corp, will also lose reality programming chief Mike Darnell, who said last week he would leave at the end of June. Darnell shepherded “American Idol” into a ratings juggernaut since its debut in 2002.

A Chinese newborn who was trapped in a sewer pipe moments after his birth has been released from hospital into the care of his grandparents.

Local officials and media reports said Thursday that authorities have concluded it was an accident, meaning his unwed mother is unlikely to be criminally charged.

The baby’s stunning, two-hour rescue from a pipe underneath a squat toilet in Zhejiang province’s Pujiang county captivated the world, prompting both horror and an outpouring of charity on behalf of the boy, who was released from a hospital late Wednesday.

The boy’s maternal grandparents took him home and the mother remains under medical care, the state-run Jinhua Evening News reported, in an account confirmed by a local police official who declined to give his name when contacted by telephone. Earlier reports had said incorrectly that the 22-year-old mother herself took the baby out of the hospital.

The mother had initially raised the alarm about the baby when he got stuck Saturday in a pipe just below a squat toilet in a public restroom of a residential building, but she had cleaned the room of signs of a fresh birth and did not initially come forward as the mother, officials have been quoted as saying.

She admitted she was the mother two days later when confronted by police who had found baby toys and blood-stained tissues in her apartment, the reports said.

Police later concluded that the incident was an accident and that the woman did not initially come forward because she was frightened, but that she later started telling the truth, the Jinhua Evening News and a Pujiang county propaganda official said. The police initially treated the case as a possible attempted homicide, but now are unlikely to file criminal charges, the newspaper and official said.

Police tracked down a man believed to be the baby’s father, who has requested a paternity test and — if the baby is his — is willing to help support the child, said the Pujiang official, who declined to give his name as is customary among Chinese officials.

Officials have not publicly released the names of anyone connected with the case, which has raised discussion over China’s lack of proper education about sex, birthing and contraception in many schools. Unwanted pregnancies have been on the rise because of an increasingly lax attitude toward pre-marital sex.

Duan Wanjin, a criminal lawyer based in Xi’an, said local police erred in not prosecuting the mother. He said she could be charged with attempted homicide for not immediately calling for help after the newborn became stuck.

“The local police may have considered the woman was still young and did not have any malice, and have come to the decision from the human perspective, but it sends a terrible signal to the public,” Duan said.

Sociologist Li Yinhe said the only mistake by the woman was not to immediately admit the baby was hers. “I don’t think that’s a big deal. After all, the child is safe, and it has a happy ending,” Li said. “The Chinese people still lean heavily on the human considerations. Let it be bygones if there’s no serious crime.”

The woman told police she got pregnant after a brief affair with the man, hid her pregnancy from family and neighbors, and secretly delivered the child Saturday in a rental building’s restroom. She said the infant accidentally slipped into the squat toilet and — after cleaning up the scene — raised the alarm.

Firefighters who arrived at the rental building found the infant trapped in an L-shaped section of sewage pipe just below the squat toilet in one of the building’s shared restrooms.

In video footage, officials were shown removing the pipe from a ceiling that apparently was just below the restroom and then, at the hospital, using pliers and saws to gently pull apart the pipe, which was about 10 centimetres (about 3 inches) in diameter.

The baby, who weighed 2.8 kilograms (6 pounds, 2.8 ounces), had a low heart rate and some minor abrasions on his head and limbs, but was mostly unhurt, according to local reports. The placenta was still attached.

(Reuters) – The action-packed sixth installment of the “Fast & Furious” film franchise claimed victory at the North American box office for the three-day U.S. Memorial Day weekend on Monday, and became the biggest opening film in Universal Pictures’ history.

“Fast & Furious 6,” starring Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, grossed an estimated $120 million from Friday till Monday, making it the second-biggest film opening of the year behind Disney’s “Iron Man 3’s” $175.3 million earlier this month.

The film also rang up an estimated $300 million at the global box office.

Universal Pictures said “Fast & Furious 6″ bested its predecessor in the series, “Fast Five,” which previously held the title of best opening for the studio with $83.6 million at domestic theaters.

“Fast & Furious 6″ also raced ahead of raunchy comedy “The Hangover Part III,” the third and final installment of the comedy about four men trying to piece together the events of a wild night.

“Hangover,” starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms as friends unwittingly drawn back to Las Vegas, made an estimated $51.2 million at the U.S. and Canada box office over the long weekend, keeping in line with studio projections.

The film also opened in its first three international sectors over the weekend – United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand – grossing $19 million, bringing the total in the markets where it is showing to an estimated $70.2 million.

“Some might argue that we should have stopped at one, but we loved doing these movies and the audience has been there” for them, Todd Philips, the director of the “Hangover” franchise, told Reuters ahead of the film’s release.

“The word ‘hangover’ … is something that people share around the world. There are some comedies that are uniquely American, but hangovers exist for the world,” he added.

Sci-fi action adventure sequel “Star Trek Into Darkness,” playing in 3D and IMAX theaters, came in at No. 3 at the domestic box office with $47 million from Friday to Monday, bringing its cumulative total to $155.8 million since opening on May 17.

Animated family film “Epic,” about a secret world in which nature’s inhabitants come together to fight evil forces, opened on Friday and has grossed an estimated $42.6 million domestically over the Memorial Day weekend.

Universal Pictures, a unit of Comcast Corp, released “Fast & Furious 6,” Time Warner Inc’s Warner Bros Studios distributed “The Hangover Part III,” and “Star Trek Into Darkness” was released by Paramount Pictures, a unit of Viacom Inc.

The San Antonio Spurs, that determined and dynamic group that just refuses to age, are headed back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2007 in search of a fifth championship since 1999.

The Spurs didn’t beat the Memphis Grizzlies in the series-deciding Game 4 of the Western Conference finals as much as they survived them, winning 93-86 in large part because point guard Tony Parker was simply spectacular.

“It’s a great feeling,” Parker said as he sat with the Western Conference trophy perched in front of him. “Since last year, I promised Tim (Duncan) we would go back to the Finals and get an opportunity to win the whole thing and trying to do my best to be aggressive every night. I think everybody on the team, we really want to do it for him. We win the West and now one more step. It’s the hardest one.”

SCHEDULE: East finals times, TV info

BOX SCORE: Spurs 93, Grizzlies 86

Parker, one-third of the Spurs’ vaunted Big Three that has been cast off as over-the-hill for so many years now, scored 37 backbreaking points on 15-for-21 shooting. The Grizzlies tried to slow Parker down, even went for the old gouge-the-eye-out trick that didn’t work when Marc Gasol inadvertently raked his outstretched hand down the left side of his face midway through the fourth quarter.

“He’s been amazing,” Duncan said of Parker. “Every year he gets better and better and better. He’s been carrying us. You can see tonight he carried us the entire game.”

But Parker got up every time, of course, then went right back to putting the Grizzlies down. His 18-footer fading left with 4:13 left pushed the lead to eight when it was growing smaller by the minute, and he did it again when it counted most to finish this most impressive of jobs. With 21 seconds remaining, Parker drove to the rim and was sent sprawling to the floor by Jerryd Bayless. His two free-throws put the Spurs up 93-86.

The Grizzlies looked defeated in the mid-third quarter, when the masterful Parker scored 14 points in less than eight minutes in a flurry of jumpers, floaters and one particular layup that sent Gasol into a fit of fury. With Kawhi Leonard inbounding from the right, Parker cut to the rim all by himself, and the bounce pass and bucket put the Spurs up 65-54. Gasol pounded the scorer’s table on his way back to a deflated huddle, but it would all turn around from there. Quincy Pondexter provided the spark, hitting a three and a layup that were part of a 12-4 run that cut the Spurs’ lead to 72-66 entering the fourth.

The energy and swagger was back for the Grizzlies and their fans, who sang along to the team’s favorite rap ditty of We Don’t Bluff during a break in the action. But Parker was quick to remind them that he doesn’t either. After an Allen putback layup brought Memphis within three early in the fourth, Parker buried a three with 9:15 remaining that gave the Spurs breathing room and took the air out of the building yet again.
“We want to get back there,” Duncan said of making the Finals. “We’ve had some really close years where we fell right on the verge of getting back. It feels like forever since we’ve been there.”

All that is left of Shayne Patterson’s three-bedroom home is the tiny area where his wife hunkered down under a mattress to protect their three children when a tornado packing winds of at least 200 mph slammed through his neighborhood.

Patterson vowed to rebuild, likely in the same place, but said next time he will have an underground storm shelter.

“That is the first thing that will be going into the design of the house, is the storm shelter and the garage,” he said as he looked around piles of bricks and plywood where their home once stood.

In the middle of the tornado’s path Monday, the only guaranteed safe spot was underground.

But, If you want that kind of shelter in Oklahoma, where basements are extremely rare, you have to pay for it, about $5,000 for shelters in homes and up to a million for much larger safe rooms in schools.

Patterson’s home was among as many as 13,000 homes damaged or destroyed Monday when the twister plowed through the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore. About 33,000 people were affected, officials said, though the number left homeless was still unknown because most of the displaced were believed to have been taken in by relatives; only two dozen or so have stayed overnight at Red Cross shelters.

Officials estimated the damage could top $2 billion.

Ten children were among the 24 people killed. One elementary school was reduced to rubble when the tornado hit. Another was heavily damaged.

While anguish over the deaths was palpable as residents began picking up their shattered neighborhoods, many remained stunned that the twister didn’t take a higher human toll during its 40 minutes on the ground.

”The tornado that we’re talking about is the 1 or 2 percent tornado,” Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management Director Albert Ashwood said of the twister, which measured a top-of-the-scale EF5 with winds of at least 200 mph. “This is the anomaly that flattens everything to the ground.”

The first of the funerals is to take place Thursday morning, for 9-year-old Antonia Candelaria, who also died at the school.

With all of the missing now accounted for, response teams transitioned into cleanup and recovery, and authorities formally allowed residents back into the damage zone Wednesday to start the monumental task of rebuilding their lives.

Moore Mayor Glenn Lewis said Wednesday he would propose an ordinance in the next couple of days to require all new homes to have storm shelters.

The town already has some. After a massive tornado tore through a nearly identical path in 1999, the city provided incentives like federal grant dollars to help residents cover the costs of safe rooms. This time, though, Lewis thinks it is necessary to compel people to include them in all new construction.

The scale of the destruction is also bound to mean higher insurance premiums for homeowners, said Dan Ramsey, president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma.

”Three years of hail bombardments of apocalyptic proportions and then this? It has to result in some give someplace,” he said.

Residents clearing massive piles of debris were also trying to get hold of essentials like mobile phones and prescription drugs lost in the destruction. Cellular service providers set up mobile retail outlets and charging stations. At least one was offering free phone calls and loaner phones.

Insurance companies have also set up emergency operation centers to take calls from people trying to get prescriptions filled and handle other health care needs.

Elsewhere in town, several hundred volunteers took it upon themselves to clean the city cemetery, which was covered in debris, so it will be ready for Memorial Day. Some veterans are buried there and it’s where the town’s residents gather on the holiday, placing flowers and flags among the gravestones.

Telus has agreed to purchase wireless upstart and rival Mobilicity for $380 million.

Mobilicity launched in 2009 as an alternative to incumbent telecom players following a government auction of new spectrum, and had grown to more than 250,000 customers.

Wireless spectrum is the specific band of electromagnetic space that allows devices to transmit signals. It is the network over which cellphones and other wireless devices are able to communicate.

Another round of spectrum is set to be auctioned off, and new entrants such as Mobilicity have expressed concern about their ability to finance themselves to properly compete with their much larger rivals and buy a slice of the upcoming 700 Mhz spectrum.

Formerly known as Data & Audio-Visual Enterprises Wireless Inc., Mobilicity offers wireless services in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Acquisition ‘best alternative’

Several weeks ago, Mobilicity and Telus entered into high-level acquisition discussions.

“Mobilicity has been losing a significant amount of money every month,” Mobilicity’s chief restructuring officer, William Aziz, said in a release Thursday. “The financial strength of Telus will allow the business to be continued in a way that will benefit customers and employees. An acquisition by Telus is the best alternative for Mobilicity.”

The agreement has numerous hurdles to overcome. It needs regulatory approval from at least three government bodies.

The Competition Bureau.

Industry Canada.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.

Mobilicity’s debtholders and Telus shareholders must also sign off on the plan. The companies say the entire purchase price will be used to satisfy Mobilicity’s secured and unsecured debt.

Telus has more than 7.7 million wireless customers across Canada, far in excess of Mobilicity’s 250,000.

The news is likely to be a contentious file for government policymakers, who have repeatedly expressed a strong interest in seeing increased competition in Canada’s wireless industry.

Other wireless upstarts are also on the block.

Public Mobile is believed to be seeking a buyer or financial partner, and Wind Mobile’s Dutch owner, Vimpelcom, has also suggested it would be interested in selling its stake in Wind to another buyer
